The Award proposes to motivate public administration to public participation in regional development and co-operation with non-profit sector. At the same time it aims to draw attention to examples of good practices and to award employees and politicians who actively enhance the development of civil society. Very important factor for Award and conference organization is experience exchange between officials and town representatives in the field of solving municipal problems. What can be an unsolvable problem in one municipality or town is being coped to public satisfaction elsewhere.

What is the procedure of the Award? Anybody can sign on a selected successful activity. Evaluation of applied project is performed in two rounds. At first the expert jury evaluates applied activities on the basis of stated criteria. The best projects from the defined order progress into the second round of evaluation, where they are visited by jury members on spot.
In 2005 CpKP found partners for organizing the Award also in other countries, namely Poland, Hungary and Slovakia. Already in 2006 these partners managed to organize national rounds of the Award in Slovakia and Hungary.
Presentation of awarded projects from all above mentioned countries and gathering of municipality, town and regional representatives has taken place at 3rd international forum on public participation in decision-making processes of public administration and the partnership principle. The conference was held on 7th December 2006 in historic premises of Wallenstein palace in Prague in Senate of the Czech Parliament. The event was co-organized by Committee for regional development, public administration and environment. Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary Dr. Kinga Göncz, Hungarian and Japanese ambassadors in the Czech Republic and State Secretary of the Ministry of Construction and Regional Development of Slovak Republic Daniel Acs participated at this conference. These guests have come to Prague not only to support further development of the Award in Czech Republic, but in their countries, too.
