For the fifth year the Czech Center for Community Organizing organized award for municipalities, towns, microregions and regions "About People with People, Award for local democracy support." In 2006 the Award, inspired by Czech example, was organized also in Slovakia and Hungary.

The competition seeks to motivate public administrations to involve the public in the regional development and cooperate with the non-profit sector. Its further aims are to promote examples of good practice and award officials and politicians who actively support the development of civil society. An important factor in organizing the competition and conference is the exchange of experience between the public officials and municipality representatives in the area of solving local problems. Problems which seem unsolvable in some villages or towns are easily solved in other municipalities to the general public’s satisfaction.

The aim of the coalition is a support of democracy decision making at public administration level, support of civic initiatives development at local and regional level, support of intersector cooperation among civic initiatives, non profit organizations and public administration, environmental protection, education and training in these fields.
